SUKKUR: The 12th Dawn in Education National Spelling Bee contest was held in the Sukkur Institute of Business Administration auditorium of here on Tuesday.

A large number of students of private and government educational institutions situated in Sukkur, Rohri, Salehpat, Pannu Aqil, Ghotki, Mirpur Mathelo, Daharki, Khairpur, Shikar­pur and other cities participated in the contest.

The event was organised by the Dawn Media Group in partnership with DawnNews and CityFM-89.

The participating students were divided into three age groups — 15-17, 12-14 and 9-11 — who went through their separate rounds.

The winners of the15-17 group belonged to the FFC Higher Secondary School, Mirpur Mathelo (Ghotki district); 12-14 group belonged to the St. Mary’s High School, Sukkur; and the 9-11 group belonged to the Engro Chemical Model School, Daharki (Ghotki district).Iqbal Khan Pathan was the judge and chief guest at the programme and the results were announced by Momin Zafar.

The programme was attended by a large number of teachers as well as parents/guardians of the participating students.
