KARACHI, Dec 10: While mystery shrouds the death of an aged professor and his wife, whose decomposed bodies were found in a house in Malir, lawyers at district courts and Sindh High Court have described their death as a result of sheer neglect. They have stressed the need for an urgent and vital inquiry into the causes leading to their death.

In a statement, signed by about 100 advocates, they demanded stern action against those responsible for the tragedy. In this context, they made mention of certain government officials’ apathy about prompt payment of pension and other dues to the deceased.

The starving couple, in their late 60s, were found dead on Sunday, 15 days after their death, as reported.

GOVERNOR: Expressing his deep sorrow over the death of the couple, Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has directed chief secretary to ensure strict disciplinary action against the officials who had created obstacles in the payment of pension and other dues to the professor, adds PPI.
