MOSCOW, Dec 9: A suicide bomber, believed to be a woman, killed six people Tuesday near the Kremlin walls in an attack authorities said may have been aimed at the nearby parliament building.

Moscow police said they suspect the attack that also injured 14 people was set off by at least one female suicide bomber wearing a belt packed with explosives and ball bearings.

Her blown-off head was discovered lying on a busy sidewalk on Moscow’s Mokhovaya street facing the Kremlin.

In a Kremlin speech delivered shortly after the bombing, Putin denounced terrorism, saying that Russia was waging a daily fight against terror, “including today.”

Officials said the 14 wounded included several students. Officials said the suicide bomber had apparently tried to target the State Duma building that was a few dozen meters away.—AFP
