HYDERABAD, Dec 8: Tribute was paid to the late Ali Ahmed Brohi for his services in the cause of Sindh and the Sindhi language at a condolence meeting held on Sunday under the aegis of Bazm-i-Rooh Rehan.

Speaking on the occasion, the Bazm president and former vice chancellor of Shah Latif University, Khairpur, Hameed Sindhi, said the late Ali Ahmed Brohi was a philosopher, intellectual and analyst.

He said his writings based on facts.

Writer and educationist Dr Habibullah Siddiqui said Mr Brohi encouraged new writers and added that with his death an important literary chapter had been closed.

Poet Imdad Hussaini said the late Brohi was one of the best satirists and added his unpublished works should be published.

Jam Saqi, Parwano Bhatti, Dr Ali Nawaz Nizamani, Shah Nawaz Mussafir, Abdur Rehman Siyal and others also spoke on the occasion.

BODY FORMED: District Nazim Dr Makhdoom Rafiquz-zaman has constituted a committee to ensure alternate arrangement for regular water supply to residents during the canal closure season from Dec 25 to Jan 10 next year.

The decision was taken at a joint meting of Hyderabad Development Authority and irrigation department officers held at the Nazim’s office here on Saturday.

The City Nazim was appointed as the head of the committee and Phuleli executive engineer Nazir Mughal and Wasa chief Tahir Ahmad its members.
