MARDAN: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s women wing, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter, has accused the district nazim of creating hurdles in the way of establishment of Women University Mardan.

Speaking at a press conference here on Monday, the women wing provincial senior vice-president Dr Sumaira Shams said the KP government had allotted 300 kanals out of 1,000 kanals of land of the Bacha Khan Medical College for the women university. However, she expressed concern that District Nazim Mardan Himayatullah Mayar Advocate had got a stay order against the allotment of 300 kanals for the university which was sheer injustice with girl students of Mardan and other surrounding districts.

The PTI women wing leader asked the district nazim to avoid playing politics over the issue.

Ms Shams pointed out that some politicians belonging to opposition parties were trying to politicise the establishment of the women university.

She was also flanked by PTI women wing office-bearers, including provincial president Rana Mudasir, Mardan district president Dr Fehmeeda Zafar, Charsadda president Nighat Javed, Nowshera president Spoogmai Hakeem and students.

She told journalists that they were very excited when the PTI government announced to establish a women university in Mardan, providing great opportunity to those girls whose parents were against coeducation. She said education of women was vital for country’s progress and development.

On the occasion, office-bearers of PTI women wing threatened to come onto the road against those who were hatching conspiracies against establishment of women varsity in the district.
