KARACHI, Dec 8: Nazims of all the towns in Karachi will meet President Gen Pervez Musharraf who is expected to visit the city next week.

The president would be informed of the alleged excesses of the advisers to chief minister on home affairs and local bodies and also provincial ministers belonging to Muttahida Qaumi Movement, said a press release issued by Liaqatabad Town.

In the joint statement, the town nazims stated that the decision had been taken in view of the vindictive acts committed against them by ministers and advisers belonging to Muttahida.

“Political motives are behind the suspension of Orangi Town Nazim Shahid Alam so that terrorist elements could have a free hand to grab the resources of the city,” it mentioned.

The handout maintained that Muttahida’s ministers would be responsible for any untoward incident in view of the current situation obtaining in Orangi Town, alleging that the party was using all its energies to derail the new local government system, instead of redressing the people’s problems.

It also alleged that ministers were implicating towns nazims in false cases and the law and order situation in the city had deteriorated. However, the nazims had resolved to serve the people despite vindictive activities and difficult situations, the statement added. — PPI
