BAHAWALPUR: Police on Saturday again came up with the usual version of an encounter, saying that a robber was killed by the firing of his accomplices.

According to a press release issued by DPO’s public relations officer, three robbers on two motorcycles on Friday night snatched a bike from Maqbool Ahmed, a resident of Jhand Village, in Saddar police precincts.

On receipt of information, a police party chased the suspects and had an encounter with them near Nooriwali Goth.

The release said after the crossfire police found one of the suspects injured who was later identified as Yousaf Noman alias Nomi, a resident of Mohajir Colony, Model Town B. It said Yousaf was injured by the firing of his accomplices who managed their escape.

The injured succumbed to his injuries on way to Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH). He was wanted in 20 cases.

Police have handed over the body to his father Luqman after autopsy.

Civil Lines police have registered a murder case against his accomplices.

ULEMA BANNED: The district administration has banned the entry of 41 ulema and zakirs in the district during Muharram. Gag orders for 31 others were also issued.
