Musharraf briefed on political scene

LAHORE, Dec 7: President of the Pakistan Muslim League-Q Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain held a meeting with President Gen Pervez Musharraf here on Sunday, briefing him about the prevailing political situation in the country.

He also briefed the president about talks between the government and the Muttahidda Majlis-i-Amal.

Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi briefed the President about the provincial government’s year-long performance.

The president called for the timely completion of development schemes undertaken by the Punjab government, enabling the people to benefit from them as early as possible.

Matters of national importance were discussed in the three- hour-long meeting between President Musharraf and Chaudhry Shujaat, a handout issued after the meeting stated.

MNA Chaudhry Wajahat Hussain and Secretary of the National Security Council Tariq Aziz were also present on the occasion.

During the meeting, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, while referring to his three-day-long negotiations with MMA leaders, expressed the hope regarding amicable resolution of all issues.

The Punjab chief minister assured the president regarding the pace of the development projects’ execution, saying that development activities were in full swing in the provincial metropolis while large-scale development programme had also been initiated in other cities of Punjab.—APP
