MINGORA: Three people drowned after a truck loaded with vegetables plunged into Swat River in Darolai area of Behrain tehsil here on Wednesday.

According to Behrain police, the truck laden with turnips was moving from Gabral area to the vegetable market in Rawalpindi. The vehicle went out of the driver’s control due to bad condition of the road.

Resultantly, three people, including a child identified as Shabnam, Fazal Rehman and Mohammad Hussain, drowned in the river while two other people, Syed and Abid, sustained injuries. Locals recovered the dead Shabnam and Fazal Rehman, while search for the third victim was continuing.

Gabral village councillor Mohammad Ali, who supervised the search for the drowned persons, said due to bad shape of the Kalam road frequent accidents had been occurring.
