MQM's Nadeem Nusrat rejects 'minus Altaf' formula

KARACHI: Senior Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader and party convener Nadeem Nusrat on Tuesday said Altaf Hussain has given identity to Urdu speaking community and MQM is nothing "minus Altaf".

In a statement from London Nusrat said that "MQM Founder Altaf Hussain is himself MQM and the party is nothing without him".

“MQM chief has given identity to Urdu speaking community,” he reiterated.

Meanwhile, London based MQM leader Saleem Shahzad in a tweet said that Nadeem Nusrat and other leaders in London coordination committee are the real culprits. He urged MQM leader Farooq Sattar to disown them.

Later in the day, MQM leadership in Pakistan called on a meeting to discuss the situation following the statement by Naddem Nusrat.

The MQM leaders in Pakistan declared that the party has "already dissociated itself from the London based leadership following the August 22 speech".

Nadeem Nusrat’s statement was disowned by party leaders in Pakistan, they further announced that statements from London must not be associated with Pakistan leadership of MQM.

Without any prejudice to anyone, I was very surprised to have read the message from MQM Pakistan in response to Nadeem Nusrat's statement in Jang. It said "MQM is run from Pakistan and we disown MQM London Website". Just anyone in MQM please educate me, how on earth these people are now dissociating themselves from Altaf when they were part of everything happening. I love the Urdu Speaking Pakistanis and especially those whose ancestors migrated over a sea of blood to Pakistan, which shows their extreme love for this country. Bunch of these hooligans kept them hostages under the slogan 'Mohajirs'. They are not Mohajirs-they are the owner of this country as any other Pakistani.

There should be an honest census in Karachi to find out real Urdu speaking people including their descendants, who originally migrated from India. Only then it would be possible to establish the real roots of MQM.

Tell this man Nusrat that everybody knows how to speak Urdu in Pakistan. There is no such thing as Urdu speaking community. He can go and live with Altaf in self imposed exile outside Pakistan and keep that old myths and lost thoughts in his mind.

Their parents/grandparents were muhajirs but so what? They are/were Pakistani after they got here, which made them no better or worse than others. Were there some bad locals and muhajirs? Yes, but that can't define the whole populations. An average person is the same all over the world. Besides, most identifying as mujhairs alive were born here, so they can't really call themselves that. They've all had last/family names they can use to identify themselves with. Or can even create a new one if they like. We have some problems in this country and you are part of the local population. So it really doesn't suite anyone to complain. And 'MQM is nothing without Altaf'. Lets be real, that like saying that a mountain is nothing without the stone that used to be on its top. Top might be the most visible part but its nothing without the base/foundation. Not the other way around.

It is not acceptable to any Urdu speaking that MQM Karachi disown London leadership while accepting Nadeem N as their convener. No one is falling for this. The worst in this situation is the PMLN who has decided not to take this matter to court and banning MQM .
