ABBOTTABAD: Five new faculties and three departments will be established in Abbottabad University of Science & Technology.

This was decided at the first meeting of the Academic Council of the varsity held under the chair of vice-chancellor Prof Iftikhar Ahmed.

In his briefing to the participants, Dr Ahmed vowed to make the university one of best places of learning in the country, for which, he asked the faculty and others to work hard.

The meeting was informed that chemistry, botany and zoology departments would be added up, while the establishment of five faculties, including faculty of science, faculty of health & bio medical sciences, faculty of humanities and social sciences and faculty of engineering would be a landmark effort to expand the area of activities for the students of Hazara division.

The Academic Council also gave approval to two syndicate members, which includes the Postgraduate Girls College No 1, Abbottabad, and Girls Degree College, Havelian.
