LAHORE: Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has given the capital city police 60 days to eliminate criminal gangs besides ordering a crackdown against criminal elements throughout the province.

Presiding over a meeting of the cabinet committee on law & order here on Sunday, he gave the capital city police a deadline of two months to eliminate criminal elements and sought all possible steps for the purpose to get the desired results.

Shehbaz said that he won’t be satisfied with the police performance until people expressed their satisfaction.

He said the steps being taken for curbing crimes would be reviewed in detail and those showing outstanding performance would be encouraged.


Shahbaz orders crackdown throughout Punjab


Issuing orders of launching crackdown against organized crimes throughout the province, the chief minister said that strict action should be taken without any discrimination against individuals and gangs involved in such crimes.

Reviewing Eid security arrangements, he cautioned that any negligence in the present circumstances would be “unaffordable”.

He said that senior police officers should patrol their respective areas and ensure complete implementation of security arrangements. He said that provincial cabinet committee should continuously monitor implementation of security arrangements throughout the province.

Inspector-General Mushtaq Sukhera gave a detailed briefing regarding the Eid security arrangements.

CM’s Special Assistant Rana Maqbool, chief secretary, home secretary, and senior officers concerned attended the meeting.
