RAWALPINDI, Dec 6: A civil judge here on Saturday issued arrest warrant for Potohar Homeopathic Medical College (PMC) Principal Dr Gulzar Kiani in a Rs15 million embezzlement case.

Judge Sulaiman Ghumman issued the arrest warrant, bailable only with a Rs0.5 million surety, and directed the accused to appear before the court on January 5.

The accused is facing charges of misappropriation of funds amounting to Rs15 of the PMC and the National Homeopathic Medical College (NHMC) since 1995 in a petition filed by Dr Inayat.

According to the prosecution, the accused had also been the principal of the NHMC before joining the PMC and had allegedly deposited the colleges’ funds in his own account.

The court took the move after the accused did not allow access to the account records of both the colleges by a lawyer, Qazi Abdur Rashid, who had been assigned the task to investigate the accounts and ascertain the charges five months ago.

Meanwhile, additional district and sessions judge Dost Mohammad Khemta directed a man to produce his two-year-old daughter before the court on December 8.

Naureen, wife of Sardar Naeem, filed a habeas corpus application in the court, stating that her husband was keeping Anoosha in illegal custody and not allowing her to meet her daughter.
