QUETTA: Security forces on Saturday picked up six suspected Al Qaeda militants including a key commander during an operation near Pak-Afghan border in Noshki district of Balochistan.

Balochistan Home Minister Sarfaraz Bugti, while speaking on law and order situation in the provincial assembly session, revealed that "security forces acted on intelligence reports and conducted raid to arrest a key militant commander along with five other militants".

Bugti informed that security forces also recovered Jihadi literature, lap tops and weapons from the possession of suspected militants.

"The terrorists received training in Afghanistan and were recruiting militants in the area," he said.

The provincial home minister stated that proxy war was underway in Balochistan and that foreign agencies were also involved in the unrest.

A security officer, who declined to be named, told DawnNews that all six militants were shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation.

He said that the arrested militants were also involved in recruitment of youth for militant Islamic State (IS) and sending them to Syria for Jihad.

The militants were also involved recruiting people and sending them to Shorawak and Sar Lath areas at Pak-Afghan border.
