SHEIKHUPURA: Two officials of the highways department who had been absconding for the last three years in an embezzlement case have been arrested by the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE).

ACE Assistant Director Khalid Mehmood told Dawn on Friday that Sub-Divisional Officer Shahid Javaid and overseer Javaid Iqbal had given a Rs5m cheque to a contractor for construction of a road in Kot Abdul Malik locality. But the contractor didn’t execute any work.
