TIMERGARA: The Samar Bagh police on Thursday claimed to have traced a blind honour killing case and arrested a man for killing his married daughter and dumping her body in forest a year ago.

Briefing mediapersons at the Samar Bagh police station, DSP Amjad Khan said that a police team comprising SHO Ibrahim Khan, additional SHO Ali Akbar and Bahadar Zeb traced the blind murder case of a 26-year-old woman whose decomposed body was recovered a week ago from a forest at Gharandy Mora in Darangal area.

The DSP said that after going through the police record, it came to light that one Fateh Mul Khan had registered a case about missing of his daughter with Maskini Darra police a year ago. The Samar Bagh police took him into custody.

Mr Amjad said that during interrogation the man confessed that he had shot his daughter in the head at the jungle a year ago as she had been accused of having illicit relations with one of his relatives.

The police have registered a case against the accused under Sections 302, 311, 338, 201, 193 of PPC and 15 AA.

CONFERENCE: The four-day 27th National and 15th International Conference of Chemistry jointly arranged by the University of Malakand (UoM), HEC and Chemical Society of Pakistan concluded here on Thursday, said a press release.

The closing ceremony was presided over by UoM VC Prof Johar Ali. Prof Yousaf Ali Hariri of Jordan appreciated the overall services and facilitation provided to them by the university’s management. Prof Wang Jian Long of China in his address said that such gatherings of intellectual growth should be held on regular basis.

Prof Hesham Al Saeedie of Sweden thanked Prof Rashid Ahmad (chief organiser) for inviting them to the conference.

PROTEST: The employees of Pesco, Dir division, on Thursday staged a protest rally, demanding elevation of scales and bonus for technical staff of the company. They boycotted duties and held a demonstration in front of their offices.

Pakistan Wapda Hydroelectric Workers’ Union leaders, including divisional chairman Yousaf Khan, on this occasion also condemned suspension of chief engineer Iqbal Marwat and demanded his reinstatement.
