LAHORE: The first birthday of lion cub Shankoo celebrated at Lahore Zoo on Wednesday was a lively affair which was enjoyed by visitors, especially children and the zoo staff.

Veteran film star Babra Sharif, who had adopted the cub last year was also present and was focus of attention on the occasion.

On the occasion, a 14-pound cake was cut inside Shankoo’s cage that was adorned with white and blue balloons. The cub was, however, shifted to the backyard lawns of his cage when the cake was cut.

Shankoo was served special food comprising live rabbits and chickens on the occasion.

On the occasion, Ms Babra Sharif said she loved the cub and would continue to support the animal adoption scheme, for which she pays Rs0.2 million per year to the zoo.

Director Muhammad Shafqat told the participants that as many as eight lion cubs born at the zoo this year.
