THATTA: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that his party rejects recent legislation against madressahs in Sindh as it believes any attempt to impose such partisan laws will prove futile and counterproductive.

Maulana said at a convention of party workers at Madressah Darul Qasmia in Sujawal on Monday that they rejected passage of such ‘anti-Islam’ laws against madressahs.

The Ulema who had always fought valiantly against terrorism and extremism would stand united in their opposition to such laws and fight tooth and nail, he said.

The passage of such laws was also tantamount to an official confession that the government had miserably failed to deliver and was desperate to do some face saving act by such legislation.

Today, the Muslim community world over was facing threats and its enemies had directed all their tricks against the community, he said.

He said the JUI-F had completed its century of historical struggle and some four million party workers and sympathisers were expected to participate in its three-day centenary celebration scheduled for April 7, 8 and 9, 2017.

JUI-F secretary Allama Rashid Mehmood Soomro said that he would contest general election 2018 in Larkana against PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari.

He lashed out at Dr Zulifkar Mirza who, he said, was only yesterday loudly condemning his former boss Zardari but unfortunately, today he was beseeching the same Zardari to take him back into the party.

He claimed that since coming to power PPP had made corruption of Rs1000 billion in works and services department alone. The department had erected a courtyard around Bilawal House in Larkana at a cost of Rs250 million and squandered away Rs240 million of national exchequer on an open ground in Gharhi Khuda Bakhsh, he said.

He said the Sindh government was defending killers and making attempts to save the culprits who acted as facilitators in the assassination of his father.

He warned that he would besiege Chief Minister House on Sept 1 if justice was denied to him.
