TOBA TEK SINGH: Ten councillors belonging to the Awam League (headed by Riaz Fatyana) have announced their support for Malik Muhammad Sharif for Kamalia municipal committee chairman slot.

Malik Sharif is supported by Pakistan Muslim League-N MPA Nazia Raheel Gujjar and the group says it is hopeful that it will defeat Rai Attiqur Rehman who has been nominated by PML-N MNA Chaudhry Asadur Rehman.

There are differences between the ruling party’s MNA and MPA on the issue of nomination of candidate for Kamalia MC chairman.

Riaz Fatyana, who formed his party after quitting the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), put his weight behind the MPA’s candidate at a function where MPA Nazia Raheel’s husband Sardar Raheel Anwar Gujjar, Malik Sharif and former Kamalia municipal committee chairman Rai Ziaullah Khan, a leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, were also present. Mr Fatyana said he was unconditionally supporting Malik Sharif.

Mr Sharif said with the announcement of 10 councillors of Fatyana group, he now had support of 22 of the 34 members and stood bright chance of winning the seat.
