NEW DELHI: India's prime minister has appealed to residents of India-held Kashmir (IHK) to shun violence as the Himalayan region remained under a security lock down and curfew.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi made the comments in a speech Tuesday in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It was the first time he commented publicly on the recent situation in Kashmir, which has seen a month of violence stemming from massive anti-India protests.
Modi, however, did not invite separatist leaders for talks on the Kashmir issue, as suggested by his party's ally in the region's coalition government.
IHK has been under curfew since the killing of militant commander Burhan Wani on July 8 sparked clashes between civilians and Indian authorities, killing more than 50 people.

IHK leaders are the voice of IHK and the stake holders. Without their participation no peace can be achieved. Indian occupation of Kashmir will aggravate the situation not only in the IHK but also in the mainland India as well.

We want peace, majority want to live in peace , it does not matter whether we are with India,Pakistan or free , we want peace and with peace established we can earn our livelihood through tourism and other means, so India please talk to Pakistan and end this violence, between India and Pakistan we are getting mauled, either India has to give up or Pakistan has to give up, talk and decide among yourself , leave us out of your politics.

Pakistan must solve Kashmir problem amicably agreeing for governing the part they hold either Pakistan or India by electing democratically and negotiate for the free movement of Kashmirs on each others territory.

This Kashmir's matter has to be resolved now. It has been very long. During the era of Pervaiz Musharraf it was about to be resolved as Indian govt had changed its hardline stance. But the pseudo democratic govts after PM undo the diplomacy and washed out what had already been agreed between the two nations.

India can diffuse situation by reviving Art 370 of its Constitution,to its original text, and instead CM there could be PM & also President of Kashmir, as before. And talk to Kashmiris, and withdraw armed forces from Kashmir ASAP .

I am reminded of a saying by a well known muslim leader in india that by letting go of kashmir the indian goverment will be betraying the muslim in other part of the country. And as i ponder over that i think he really got a very geniune point. India as we all know doesn't belong to a particular religious group or race but to every indians who professe varied faiths.
We can't describe indian by the color or the tongue. Kashmiri heritage and culture and the race belongs to the indian civilization.

98% of the people commenting are asking for Kashmir to be separate as per UN resolution. But not a single one is point to the fact that the first step of the UN resolution is not done by your own govt and so the Plebiscite cannot take place. I mean, just because you want something, doesnt mean i will give it to you on your wish. Requesting all to think logically
