BEIJING, Dec 1: Pakistan and China have agreed to strengthen cultural links and people-to-people contacts through exchange of students, teachers, media and writers’ delegations, art performance groups, experts and exhibitions.

“We have decided to lay greater emphasis on friendly exchanges and communication between the youth to enhance their awareness of Pakistan-China traditional friendship,” said a Chinese official while giving details of the agreement signed during the recent visit of President Pervez Musharraf to Beijing.

He told APP that the agreement identifies 11 different areas of bilateral cooperation in the fields of culture and education. The two sides ratified the contents of the cultural agreement that was signed for the first time in 1965.

It was decided to enhance bilateral exchanges both at official and private levels. The two governments have also decided to increase number of scholarships and educational incentives for students and teachers.—APP
