LAHORE: The National Transmission and Despatch Company Limited (NTDC) has expedited construction work on 145-km long 500 kV double circuit transmission line for evacuation of 969 MW power from Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Plant.

This project is of national importance for the government, being constructed on mountainous terrain of AJK, which would be completed prior to commissioning of the Neelum-Jhehlum Hydropower Plant.

In a pres release issued here on Sunday, a spokesman said NTDC Managing Director Dr Fiaz Ahmad Chaudhry and GM Wajahat Saeed Rana visited various sites near Muzaffarabad to review the construction work on the transmission line.

Project Director Manzoor Ahmad briefed the management that the transmission line work was divided into three lots i.e. Lot-1, Lot-2 and Lot-3 and overall 68 per cent of work had already been completed. Major construction activities includes right of way clearance, foundations, erections and stringing of towers as per the prescribed design.

He pointed out that the right of way issues were seriously impacting the construction work. Consequently, the company MD held meetings with local administration, assistant commissioner, SHO, tehsildar and local representative of Minhasa, Dheerkot, to resolve such issues on an urgent basis.
