ISLAMABAD, Nov 30: President Gen Pervez Musharraf will meet some 80 ulema at the President House on Dec 4.

This was disclosed by Information Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed at a press conference here on Sunday.

“The ulema will apprise the president of their problems being faced by them after the Afghan war. The issue of Legal Framework Order (LFO) and uniformed president will not be discussed in that meeting,” according to the minister.

He told a questioner that MMA leaders were not invited to the meeting. If the president needed to talk to them, a separate meeting would be called, he added.

He expressed the hope that the government and the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal will reach an agreement on the Legal Framework Order (LFO).

He said that he had been saying that the matter would be resolved with the MMA amicably. Referring to the MMA’s deadline for tabling the constitutional package in the assembly, he said dates “do not matter”. —APP/PPI
