GUJRANWALA: A 12-year-old boy was killed after falling into a drain at Gulshan Adeel Colony in Khiali on Thursday night.

Eyewitness Asadullah said Abdur Rehman was playing along with other children when he slipped and fell into the drain. Rescuers recovered the boy from the drain and shifted him to the DHQ Hospital in a critical condition, but he could not survive.

The body was handed over to his parents.

FARMERS BOOKED: Eighteen farmers were booked for stealing canal water in Naushera Virkan on Friday.

Magistrate Ali Hasan said that FIRs were registered against 18 farmers, including Sajjad Baloch, Sardar Rajput, Shahbaz Virk, Ghulam Arain, Mansha Dogar, Shafaqat Arain and Zulfiqar.

DEMO: Scores of residents of Kotli Sabo, Aroop town, demonstrated on Sialkot Road in front of the DCO office against the establishment of a poultry shed which was causing diseases.

The protesters dispersed after DCO Muhammad Aamir assured them that the issue would be resolved within five days.
