KARACHI: The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) has announced the admission policy for the academic session 2016-17.

Admission to the first year classes for all groups in recognised colleges and higher secondary schools are subject to certain conditions which must be adhered to. Admission to the higher secondary classes shall stop on expiry of three weeks from the commencement of the session in August, provided that the chairman may, in exceptional cases, sanction admissions up till the end of six weeks.

Admission to colleges will be in accordance with capacity determined on the basis of maximum 80 students per section of a class. Also, admission shall not be granted to any student on the expiry of the last dates as indicated. Admission shall be granted to those students who have passed their SSC examination or its equivalent examination in 2015-16.

Those who have passed the said examination in 2014 or earlier but not later than 2011 can be admitted provided they have obtained gap permission from the Board of Intermediate Education in Karachi.

Permission of gap shall be granted to those students who have passed their SSC Examination and have a gap of up to 5 years between passing SSC Examination or its equivalent examination and desire to take admission in HSC Part-I.

Transfer of students in Class XII from one institution to another local institution shall be subject to no objection certificate (NOC) by both institutions and prior permission of the board. Transfer case entertained by the institutions without written permission from the board shall be treated as null and void.

Provisional admission shall be granted strictly according to the policy subject to availability of capacity to such students who have failed in SSC Part-II (Class X) annual examination 2016 (up to the maximum of two subjects) including students of Sindh boards and institutions of federal/ Aga Khan board located in Karachi and overseas institutions.

The said category of students, however, should obtain academic documents including NOC from the principal concerned prior to taking their admission. Admission without prior approval shall be treated null and void. The cases for admission with regards to the candidates who clear the examinations through supplementary examination should be considered strictly according to the policy and availability of seats on case to case basis.

Admission can also be granted to candidates of GCE (O level) examination of the same year in Class XI with prior permission of the board, who qualify in English, Urdu, Islamiat (compulsory), Pakistan Studies (compulsory) and four other elective subjects including mathematics at the GCE (O Level) examinations or its equivalent examination, on the basis of equivalence certificate to be obtained from Inter Board Committee of Chairman, Islamabad/ Karachi.

A candidate who conceals the facts of his/her previous success in the intermediate or equivalent examination at the time of his/her fraudulent admission/appearance in the HSC examination would be liable to rejection of his/her admission or result, or both.

The principals of all recognised colleges / heads of higher secondary schools shall forward to the Secretary, Board of Intermediate Education, Karachi, within 14 days of the closure of admission the names of all such students along with enrolment forms admitted to higher secondary class (XI).

The principals are therefore requested to also obtain enrolment forms from the students duly filled in at the time of admission. At the time of seeking admission in the colleges, the students belonging to other boards must produce pass marks sheet/certificate and migration certificates from the concerned board and permission for change of board from the Board of Intermediate Education, Karachi. Admission granted without fulfilling these formalities shall be treated null and void and action will be taken against such institutions which may lead to their de-affiliation.

Candidates having passed their HSC Part-I examination from the board of other provinces shall be entitled to admission in HSC Part-II in any college, subject to No Gap between HSC Part-I and HSC Part-II on production of mark sheet indicating separate marks of theory and practical and prior permission for change of board from the Board of Intermediate Education, Karachi.

Those students who have passed SSC examination with computer science are not eligible to take admission in pre-medical group. Those students who have passed Technical School Certificate examination are not eligible to take admission in pre-medical group. Every student has to submit an undertaking duly countersigned by his/her father/guardian that 75pc attendance rule will be followed strictly, failing which his/her examination form will not be forwarded and acceptable to the board. No enrolment forms shall be entertained from any institution without valid registration from the education & literacy department.
