KARACHI: Some 212 employees of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board who had reportedly been absent for a long time have been sacked and action has also been initiated against 120 other ‘ghost’ employees, Dawn has learnt.

Earlier, the KWSB had written letters, issued show cause notices, etc, to the 212 workers who had not been attending to their duties for a long time.

When the employees did not respond to the show cause notices, etc, then legal formalities were fulfilled and the employees were sacked.

Similarly, action against the 120 ‘ghost’ employees has been initiated as they were also not coming to duty.

Letters were written and show-cause notices issued, but they did not respond. If they did not resume their duties soon, they will also be sacked, says a KWSB statement issued on Sunday.
