ISLAMABAD: PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Tuesday warned the incumbent government of a strong reaction if elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) are rigged.

“We are smelling that they are planning to rig elections in AJK which would be strongly rejected,” said Bilawal while talking to media personnel at his residence in the federal capital.

The PPP chairman added that in his opinion, the elections in AJK could be a turning point for the Kashmir cause.

He took the opportunity to also criticise the PML-N government for not having a foreign minister to deal with day to day foreign police issues.

Bilawal, in an unusual move, agreed with Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan’s earlier statement regarding Nawaz Sharif being the biggest threat to democracy in Pakistan.

But the PPP chairman disagreed with Imran’s earlier statement, in which he said the people of Pakistan will rejoice if the army takes over the country.

"I do not support such statements which call for unconstitutional change", said Bilawal Bhutto.

PTI's chief, Imran Khan, on had stated the people of Pakistan will celebrate and distribute sweets if the army takes over in the country.

"Democracy in Pakistan is threatened by Nawaz's monarchy and the people will celebrate and distribute sweets if the army takes over," said Imran while addressing a public rally in Azad Kashmir.

Elections for the Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s Legislative Assembly will be held on July 21.

The Ministry of Interior through a notification has assigned army the duty of security and maintenance of peace during elections to be held in AJK.
