KARACHI: Promising seamer Rumman Raees Khan produced a fiery burst as Pakistan CC annihilated Tapal CC by eight wickets to qualify for the semi-finals of the Ghani Builders T20 Colour Kit Knockout Cricket Tournament here on Wednesday.

The 24-year-old left-armer, who was adjudged man-of-the-match, grabbed four wickets for just six runs in 3.1 overs in the quarter-final at the KCCA Stadium where Tapal CC mustered a measly total of 64 all out in 17.1 overs.

Slow left-armer Fawad Khan claimed 3-4 before Pakistan CC romped home in 8.4 overs with Nadeem Javed (39 off 25 balls, four fours and two sixes) and Akbar-ur-Rehman (21 off 15, three boundaries) remaining unbeaten.

Pakistan CC’s semi-final opponents on Thursday will be Malir Gymkhana who defeated Dawood Sports by 22 runs in the afternoon last-eight fixture at the TMC Ground.

Discarded Test opener Khurram Manzoor starred with 78 from 58 balls (10 boundaries and one six) as Malir Gymkhana collected 150-6.

Dawood Sports, in reply, ended up making 128-9 as left-arm spinner Azam Khan captured four wickets for 33 runs.

Khurram was named man-of-the-match.

The other semi-final will be played between Vital Five CC and Alamgir Gymkhana.

Vital Five CC comfortably got past Hamdam CC by 48 runs in the morning quarter-final tie at the TMC Ground.

Off-spinner Yasir Hussain clinched the man-of-the-match award for his excellent return of 5-15 as Hamdam CC capitulated in 19 overs for 95 after Hafiz Asad Baig’s 56 (49 balls, five fours and one six) had guided Vital Five CC to 143-7.

Usman Khan played a blazing 39-ball knock of 65, featuring nine fours and three sixes, to help Alamgir Gymkhana beat Nazimabad Gymkhana in the last quarter-final at the Annu Bhai Park.

Upcoming all-rounder Danish Aziz also made a handy contribution of 39 (31 balls, four fours and one six) as Alamgir Gymkhana posted 180-5.

Slow left-armer Salman Khan then picked up five wickets for 25 runs and young left-arm fast bowler Ghulam Mudassar 3-30 as Nazimabad Gymkhana were all out or 160 in 19 overs despite Hamza Ghanchi making 48 (34 balls, seven fours and one six).
