These trees will never mature because of existing pollution in the state. Somebody has to tell them to make the state pollution free befor planting the new trees as Pakistani do with great success.

@Zak The earlier record was set by India on June 12 and 13 - 2009 when 447,874 saplings were planted in Assam, We indians do not want to copy pakistan in any manner

Maharashtra state planted 2 Crore saplings this 1st JULY . There was massive response of local public, Bgos schools , government officials almost all major organizations

All guys who are commenting with negative thought, I request everyone that Tree plantation is good for every living being. So kindly dont make it India vs Pakistan . If PAkistan is doing a good job every Nature lover must appreciate it with no doubt. I Hope at-least on Tree plantation issue we should act positively. There should be healthy competition regarding Planting Trees initiative.

What is the big news in it? The state of KPK in Pakistan has launched a scheme of planting a billion trees within this season!

@Being Indian - I agree with you here and no doubt "Tree plantation is good for every living being". KPK government here is well into the project of working towards their aim of planting 1 billion trees.

KPK is way ahead and half way through in planting 1 billion trees.

Maximum plants should be fruit trees like Mangoes, Jamun, Guava , Berries as after about 4 to 5 years they can be auctioned for good amount of money for a season. This way the trees will return the expenditure incurred on their maintenance. This should be made compulsory as per the area holding of an individual house, housing society and along the canals and roads. You will be surprised that a society will not have to pay any maintenance charges as the return from these fruit trees is much higher than the expenditure. I would like to confirm on the success of such a scheme and it is not just theoretical. A similar step has been enforced by the Government of Haryana State of this wonderful nation , which approves the housing plan only if it has Solar power and rain water collection facility. The schemes have become popular after seeing the success of the end result.

@Kamal Pasha Stop import of old trashed Chinese COAL plants being transferred to Pakistan to save your environment. Do you know that New Delhi is the greenest Capital in the world even when pollution levels are high. China and India can not reduce too much pollution as they are having industrial revolution. Both these combined produce less pollutants than USA and other Industralised EU nations. Must see that India EXPORTS FOUR times more automobiles than Pakistan actually builds. Similarly at 2% ownership of vehicles, India has double the number of vehicles than 63% ownership in Canada. Therefore just imagine India if increases ownership by another 2% ,it will be FOUR TIMES that of Canada. Similarly ,Today India has become the largest user of Cellphones in the world. Another surprise is that the maximum cellphones being used in India are by companies which are MADE IN INDIA since they are cheaper. So pollution will remain in order to progress and we will certainly be on top soon.
