SIALKOT, Dec 30: Three persons, including a girl, were shot dead while a woman was injured over an old enmity in Daska Kalan late on Saturday night.

Four armed men, including Shahzad and Saleem, went to the clinic of Dr. Tariq Butt on Awami Road and shot him dead.

Later, the accused went to the house of one Habibullah on Afshan Road and opened indiscriminate fire. Habib and his daughter, Nasreen, died instantly while his wife, Ghafooran, sustained critical injuries. She was admitted to hospital.

It is reported that doctor’s brother Aamir Butt had killed one Shamshad Bibi, the sister of Shahzad, over a marriage dispute on April 25, 1998, while Habib’s son Ehsan, a proclaimed offender, had killed Tahira Bibi, the elder sister of Shahzad, in Model Town some two weeks ago.

Aamir Butt was poisoned in the Sialkot District Jail for killing Shamshad some time back, and the accused killed Dr. Tariq reportedly for stopping him to pursue his murder case.

PROTEST: People staged a rally on Sunday against hours-long unscheduled loadshedding of gas in Sialkot and Daska city.

They chanted slogans against the authorities concerned and demanded the government to take note of the situation.

Reportedly, the gas supply remains suspended for several hours daily in all the congested areas of Sialkot and Daska.

Meanwhile, taking an advantage of the situation, gas dealers have raised the rates of cylinders to a great extent.

BAR POLLS: Elections to the District Bar Association, Sialkot, will be held on Jan 5 next.

Some 496 members of the association will cast vote to elect office bearers for the next term.
