Pakistani wanted for murder, terror attempt arrested in Philippines

MANILA: The Philippines Bureau of Immigration arrested over the weekend a Pakistani wanted for various crimes in his country, including terrorism, rioting and murder.

New Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente said Malik Muhammad Sharif, 39, was arrested Saturday in Subic, Zambales, in northern Philippines by agents of the bureau and other law enforcement agencies.

He said Malik was the subject of an Interpol red notice and went by the alias Sharif Ahmad.

"According to Interpol, the suspect faced the death sentence in Pakistan," Morente said Monday.

It was unclear how long Malik had been hiding in the country.

Morente said Malik was wanted in his country for double murder, attempted murder, terrorism and rioting.

Deport him back and we will take action according to our laws, we show no leniency towards hate mongers and against those who indulge in terrorism either on home or foreign soil.

We are thankful to Phillippines for apprehending this individual, now FO should arrange for his deportation back to Pakistan and should ensure his speedy trial and swift justice.

Philippines is really a good country and good peoples. This thing will grow more insecurity within Pinoys with Pakistani's. This will make Pakistani's more non-trustworthy in this lovely Island county.

India is seccond most populous and Pakistan is 6th I guess, yet suspects always belongs to Pak in all the cases.

Thats the reason why we as Pakistanis have to wait for the Philippines Embassy to give us the visa whereas indians are welcomed there without any visa. they have special replacement visas for indians. and we even need visa for sri lanka and Bhutan. no wonder our passport has been ranked amongst the worst in the world. we have to do somethin about these guys...the immigration back home should check thourougly before lettin these dumb lunatics out of of the country.

@ibrahim Bashir true...our whole system needs to wakeup...will we have these corrupthings politicians who have no concerns for public other than filling their own pockets it will be difficult. I would urge all my friends to vote sincerely for the country. We as common people also have responsibility, cannot blame everything on the govt.

@sana If all the Pakistanis are given good life style in Pakistan itself why they go abroad to search for job. It is better to do self analysis & protect each citizen than blaming others. All innocents get involved in crimes, this man should be examined carefully why he did so. He should be protected first.

@sana I have a lot of sympathy for you as I was in exactly the same position after returning to Pakistan after 48 years in Europe. After six months, I could not take the country any more and came back. Sadly Pakistan today is not the country where I grew up. Fanatism, ignorance and corruption is rife. Masses are uneducated, undisciplined, and with bad attitude. It is a very good example of a Third World country.
