HYDERABAD, Dec 30: The Sindh Hari Committee has taken strong exception to the claim of Abdul Wahid Areesar, a central leader of the Jeay Sindh Quami Mahaaz (JSQM), that the slogan of “Jeay Sindh” was coined by poet Shaikh Ayaz, which later became the national slogan of all the nationalist parties of Sindh.

In a joint statement issued on Saturday, Sindh Hari Committee leaders, Usman Leghari and Rasheed Ahmed Endhar, said that the term ‘Jeay Sindh’ was coined by Baba-i-Sindh Haider Bux Jatoi, who had read his poem containing the words in a literary sitting in 1966 in which late Shaikh Ayaz and Hameed Sindhi were also present.

They said that for reciting the poem Mr Jatoi was sentenced to a three-year term by a military court in Nawabshah.

Mr Areesar, while paying tributes to Shaikh Ayaz at his 4th death anniversary held at Bhitshah on Friday, had claimed that the phrase Jeay Sindh was coined by Shaikh Ayaz for the first time in his short story Paresari.
