Woman attempts suicide

SUKKUR, Nov 24: A woman tried to commit suicide at the Darul Aman, Sukkur, on Sunday night.

The woman, Shamshad Solangi, had fixed a rope around her neck but the rope tore and she fell down and injured. She was taken to the Sukkur Civil Hospital.

Ms Shamshad had obtained divorce from her husband through a local court 20 days back and had been shifted to the Darul Aman because there was a threat to her life from her relatives as she wanted to marry a man, Janib Mahar, of her will.

The woman attempted suicide when she came to know that Mr Janib had been killed, allegedly by her brother, the day the court allowed her to get divorce from her husband.

ACCIDENTS: Two people were killed and another was injured in an accident near Rohri, Sukkur district, on Monday.

A bus, headed for Sanghar from Thekrato, overturned near Rohri as a result of which Azizullah and Mohammad Hanif, both residents of the Dhandhi village, Rohri Taluka, were killed on the spot, while Liaquat Ali was injured.

In another incident, a motorcyclist, Faiz Mohammad, was crushed to death when a bus rammed into his motorcycle, near Kandhra, Rohri Taluka, on Monday.

The bus driver did not stop; rather he accelerated the speed of his bus to escape.

In yet another accident, a man, Jaffer Khan, died after he was run over by a car on the National Highway near Naushahro Feroze on Monday evening.

The police registered a case against the unidentified car driver.
