PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, who is also the Chancellor of Islamia College University (ICU), Peshawar, has appointed Prof Dr Naushad Khan as pro-vice chancellor of the university for a period of two years, said an official statement here on Thursday.
Dr Naushad is replacing the outgoing vice-chancellor Ajmal Khan who will complete his tenure on June 26. He joined the Islamia College, Peshawar, as lecturer in 1987. He did his PhD from Area Study Centre of the University of Peshawar in 1995. He remained chairman of Pakistan Studies Department from its inception till becoming vice-chancellor of the university.
He did his post-doctorate with distinction from Royal United Services Institute, White Hall London in 2000. He was appointed as visiting professor at the Poland’s Jagiellonian University in 2010.
He was also appointed as dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Arts and Languages of ICP from 2010 to 2013. He was again appointed dean of this faculty in 2015. Being the senior dean he had been appointed as pro-vice chancellor as per the ICP Act.
