NAWABSHAH: Police on Tuesday claimed to have seized a suicide jacket containing about three kilos of explosive material from a private van which was checked upon its arrival at a fuel station on Saghar Road. The van was detained and its driver arrested, they said.

Sakrand DSP Anwar Durrani told journalists in his office that the van (GF 6774) was kept under watch after a tip-off. When it arrived at the fuel station, he along with a team of the Balu Ja Quba police station raided it. During a search of the vehicle, the jacket with explosives stuffed in its pockets was found.

The bomb disposal squad was called out which examined the jacket. Safdar Shah, a member of the squad, confirmed that it contained about three kilos of explosive material. The arrested suspect’s identity was not disclosed.
