KOHAT: The top two positions in the science group of secondary school certificate (SSC) examinations of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Kohat, were clinched by Cadet College, Kohat, in the results announced on Friday.

Kohat BISE chairman Abdur Raqeeb Khan announced the results at a press conference. MPA Ziaullah Khan Bangash was the chief guest on the occasion.

According to the results, cadet Junaid Imran got 1,038 marks and stood first while cadet Danish Sattar obtained 1,037 marks and got the second position. Cadet Malik Waleed Zeb Khan and Aleena Rehman of Iqra Public School and College, Kohat, shared the overall third position with 1,035 marks.

In the arts group, Ms Fatima Sohail of government girls higher secondary school, Babri Banda, topped the exams by obtaining 851 marks, while Ms Iffat Gul of government girls high school Teri, Karak, and Ms Sughra Batol of Shahi Bagh school, Ibraheemzai, Hangu, stood second and third by obtaining 848 and 843 marks, respectively.

A total of 34,050 candidates appeared in the 10th class examinations of which 25,908 remained successful, showing a pass percentage of 76.09. In the 9th class exams, 21,781 of total 36,050 candidates were declared successful with a pass percentage of 60.42.

The results were declared the same day in Kohat, Karak, Hangu, Kurram Agency, Orakzai Agency and Frontier Region of Kohat. The BISE chairman and the MPA gave way cash prizes and shields to the position holders at the ceremony.

PUBLIC-POLICE LIAISON: District police officer, Kohat, Mohammad Sohaib Ashraf has asked the police personnel to improve their public dealing and behaviour, saying that public satisfaction is the only genuine yardstick and objective measure of the police performance.

He said this while chairing a meeting of sub-divisional police officers and station house officers of Kohat in the conference room of his office on Friday. He briefed the officials of police department on the reform initiatives of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police.

He stressed on holding of regular darbars /meetings in their respective police stations to brief the police personnel and staff to improve their public dealing and behaviour, and educate them on significance and usage of the IT gadgets.

Mr Ashraf observed that the public perception and public satisfaction of the police was the only genuine yardstick and objective measure of its performance.

He said that every effort must be made to bridge the police-public trust deficit.
