SHIKARPUR: 10 injured in clash

SHIKARPUR, Nov 23: Ten men were seriously injured in a clash between the Jafri and Brohi clansmen near Abdal Shakh on Sunday.

Gul Bahar, Sultan and Gul Mohammad, all Jafri by caste, and Lakhmir, Wali Mohammad, Nazar Mohammad, Ghulam Mohammad, Mohammad Azeem and Gul Hassan, all Brohi by caste, were shifted to Civil Hospital here.

The cause of the clash was said to be a dispute over cattle.

COMPENSATION: Sindh Population Welfare Minister Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh distributed Rs2.2 million cheques among the relatives of 41 victims of the Kashmor carnage in Kashmor on Saturday.

Six months ago, outlaws had opened indiscriminate fire in Kashmor in which 14 persons were killed and 27 others seriously injured.

The Sindh government had sanctioned Rs100,000 for each killed person and Rs30,000 for each injured person as financial assistance for their families.

Speaking at the cheque distribution ceremony, Mr Shaikh announced that jobs would be provided to the relatives of the victims by the Sindh government.

JSM: Jeay Sindh Mahaz (Z) chief Syed Zain Shah has criticised the government and its predecessors, saying that they have shattered the socio-economic fabric of Sindh.

He was speaking at an Iftar dinner hosted by JSM-Z vice- chairman Agha Qamar Mushwani here the other day.
