MANSEHRA: Four people were killed and three suffered critical injuries when a passenger coach skidded off the Karakoram Highway and plunged into a ravine in Puttan area of Kohistan on Tuesday.

The police said the bodies and the injured had been shifted to the Civil Hospital Puttan.

They said the coach was on the way to Rawalpindi from Gilgit when the driver, Mohammad Ismail, lost its control while overtaking another vehicle and hit an incoming lorry head-on.

The coach fell into a deep ravine after the collision.

The accident killed three people on the spot, while another succumbed to injuries in a nearby hospital.

Among the deceased were driver Mohammad Ismail, Uzair, and two unidentified persons.

The police said the driver’s helper and two others were shifted to the Civil Hospital Puttan due to critical injuries.

They said they had begun investigation to know the cause of the accident after registering an FIR.

Three outlaws arrested

The Mansehra police on Tuesday claimed they had arrested three outlaws over street crimes in Hazara division and seized stolen goods and arms.

SHO of the city police station Mohammad Javed told reporters here that Mohammad Aqash, Mohammad Arsalan and Mohammad Ali were arrested when they were fleeing after committing a robbery here in the city area.

He said the arrested men were wanted for snatching cellphones, cash and ornaments and that they had confessed to the crimes.
