QUETTA: The Quetta Accountability Court remanded on Wednesday Mir Khalid Khan Langove, former adviser to the Balochistan chief minister on finance, in NAB’s custody for another 14 days in a mega corruption case.

The National Accountability Bureau produced Mr Langove before the court amid tight security after the completion of 14 days remand granted earlier.

NAB prosecutor Chaudhry Mumtaz Yousaf pleaded before the court that the former finance adviser was needed for further interrogation in the corruption case.

Judge Abdul Majeed Nasar extended the remand for another 14 days and directed NAB to arrange a meeting of Mr Langove with his lawyers and relatives as requested by the suspect.

Mr Langove was arrested by NAB in connection with the mega corruption case registered against suspended provincial finance secretary Mushtaq Ahmed Raisani.

They were accused of embezzling Rs1.5 billion local government funds for the financial year 2014-15. Three alleged facilitators — an executive engineer, a contractor and his brother — are already in NAB custody.

NAB had recovered Rs650 million from the residence of Raisani after arresting him last month. The bureau recovered another Rs5.7m hidden in a bakery.
