QUETTA: The principal of University Law College was shot dead here on Wednesday, police said.

Barrister Amanullah Khan Achakzai was heading to the college from his home in Killi Tarkha when unidentified men opened fire on his car, leaving him injured.

Police and personnel of the Frontier Corps took the principal to a hospital where he died.

The armed men, who were riding a motorcycle, managed to escape.

Mr Achakzai was the youngest principal of the law college.

“It appears to be a case of targeted killing, but we are not in a position at the moment to ascertain the motive for the murder,” said Raja Abdul Qayyum, a senior official of the Brewery police station.

He said Mr Achakzai was hit by eight bullets on different parts of his body.

Police collected evidence from the crime scene and are investigating, Mr Raja added.

There was no claim of responsibility for the attack.
