ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is expected to return to Pakistan, following his open-heart surgery in London, before the end of Ramazan, said Maryam Nawaz while talking exclusively to DawnNews.
Maryam stated the premier is doing very well and he talked with her for a short period of time today and said "I am good and my condition is improving".
"Three of his arteries were blocked before the surgery," said Maryam.
“It will take five to six days for the prime minister to get discharged from the hospital, and we expect he will return home in the next three to four weeks,” Maryam said while elaborating on the premier's return.
She added he was speaking at public rallies with three clogged arteries, which proves he is a man of strong nerves.
"Our family did not realise the gravity of the prime minister's health issues, and were made aware after his last check-up in London."

Earlier, the premier's daughter, Maryam Nawaz, had tweeted the surgeons are satisfied with his recovery, and he is expected to remain in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for another 24 hours.
He is expected to be moved into a room tomorrow.
Doctors also removed two drain tubes from his chest, which alleviated the premier's discomfort, added Maryam in another tweet.
Nawaz was also made to sit briefly for the first time after his open-heart surgery.
The prime minister's daughter also spoke to him today. She said in a separate tweet that although his throat was soar, she could make out he was recovering well.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's open-heart surgery was performed successfully in London on Tuesday, and he was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for post-surgery care and recovery.
The surgery commenced at 0800 GMT, and lasted for four hours, during which the premier's arteries were successfully grafted.
The prime minister is expected to be in the hospital for a week following his surgery. During his stay at the hospital, the premier will be overseeing the affairs of his government from London, the media wing of PM House said earlier.
On Monday, the PM addressed an economic meeting and signing off on budget proposals for the upcoming fiscal year.

I find it disgusting that the pm had to travel abroad for surgery. I'm sure that this surgery could have been carried out in Pakistan.
Surprised and saddened as a 3rd generation British Asian at the state of the hypocrisy in Pakistani politics.
Surely what's good enough for the common man should be good enough for the pm?
Unless his anatomy was so different from a normal humans that only 'London' surgeons could operate.

My sister in law had a double bypass surgery at a private Karachi hospital. She was released after two days, and back to her normal domestic activities within a week!
To think the PM needs to spend nearly a month recovery from his surgery suggests, either the issue is much more serious, or he's using the stay in UK to cook up other strategies to kill the Panama Leaks scandal and allegations against him.
Either way, I 'm sorry, he doesn't deserve the consideration of the people to keep lording over them via vide0-links, Skype and Telephone calls! Time to step down and take care of your health. Holding on to power in these conditions, simply shows greed and insecurity!

Wish him all the best for his recovery. Honestly Nawaz Sharif is not fit to run Pakistan and the members of his party are even worse. What happened to the promises this leader made regarding electricity. He said Pakistan will have no load shedding in a year. How long has it been??? He cant stick to his words Not in a year, Not even in 2yrs, etc..... Worst thing is NO ONE EVEN ASKS HIM!

Please make sure he doesn't clog any more arteries by useless address to the nation or Parliament who are demanding answers from him over Panama Leaks,.
I mean it would be ironic, someone trying to cover up leaks about his horded wealth, by making useless speeches which result in more clogged arteries. Yes, it brings tears (barely) to my eyes. But does the PM care about his own health??

Amazing he is sitting up in a suit & having breakfast with wife.
She is childish showing her father with Endo tube in on a respirator deeply sedated & claiming he is conscious. If you ask him any thing he won't be able to answer. If you pinch him very hard he may say " hu'n " if you say Pakistan he won't be able to say who is she. Be sensible & keep some privacy.

@Marya He's the quintessential 'King of Pakistan'. It would be beneath his stature to visit a hospital where ordinary garden-variety Pakistani can go. Even one, where highly qualified, and foreign trained surgeons work and excel in their field.
Heck, even one which was good enough for the US Ambassador no less, right there in ISB, and was seemingly very happy with the service he received.

Such callous disregard for tue country and regrettably a shameful approach the management of the whole issue. Notwithstanding the intensity of heart condition, can someone imagine that the coverage of a country's PM health condition would be managed by his family alone.
Not even Quaid's sister took center stage when he was fighting his health battles.
Is Pakistan a joke or we just cannot deserve anything but apathy?

@Marya This is one way of gaining political mileage. The Harley Street hospital where he was operated is only affordable to people living either on Mayfair or in Knights bridge. PM must have felt that it would be below his dignity to be operated in Pakistan in a hospital where poor are treated.

Maryam is like the George Bush of Sharifs I think. One hand she admits they were only made aware of health issue after the last check up yet she claims PM proved he is man of strong nerves because despite clogged arteries he spoke at rallies. So if he didn't know how does it make him strong? Secondly is the definition of a strong leader one who could have rallies with clogged leaders? For me its one who could end corruption,doesn't loot and builds schools.

My brother had triple bypass in a private hospital in Lahore a few years ago. He was 82 years old at that time. Every thing went well. He is now enjoying his life with family in Lahore. No problems connected with operation.

I can quote many examples where persons had by pass operation in Pakistan specially Lahore and had no problems. It cost about Rs. 800000.00 a fraction of the cost in London which is around £ 20,00,000.00 and living and transport from Pakistan to UK on top of it.
Personal experience. My daughter's father in law, single bypass in Lahore, no problems. ( I am from Lahore). Pakistani doctors are first class.

It is sad that no surgeon or a hospital is capable of performing a surgery which has become routine procedure all over the world. What happens to ordinary citizens of Pakistan if they need a bypass surgery and cannot afford to go abroad.

I had both knees full replacement here in the United Kingdom. Both time the doctor was a Pakistani from Karachi, supported by second doctor of African origin. Both operation went very well. I am now problem free. If a Pakistani doctor is working here to British specification and liked by Europeans and Pakistanis, then what is not right about his work in Pakistan. I say Pakistani doctors are doing wonderful work here in UK and in USA. Nawaz Shariff a people like him should be proud of them and depend on them They should not come running to UK or America.

PM is enjoying first class treatment abroad, even for the minor health issues , their choice is always going abroad specially London. The sad thing is that the poor children in Thar have no value to survive. Even 20000 pregnant women die each year in pakistan because of the poor maternal health services and lack of health faciliities in Pakistan.
