ISLAMABAD/NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif telephoned his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi on Monday, just before being wheeled in for his heart surgery, Indian Ministry of External Affairs spokesman Vikas Swarup tweeted.
"PM @narendramodi receives phone call from PM Nawaz Sharif just before Pak PM is wheeled in for surgery. Wishes him a speedy recovery", Swarup said in the tweet.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Friday had confirmed through Twitter that her father will undergo surgery on Tuesday and appealed to the nation to pray for the health and recovery of Nawaz Sharif.
Since then, an influx of support and well wishes have been pouring out on the internet for the premier from notable personalities including Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chief Imran Khan, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto, cricketers Abdul Hafeez and Umar Akmal.
On the international front, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, and British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond too expressed best wishes for Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's successful operation and speedy recovery.
In a tweet posted on Saturday, Modi wished for the premier's "speedy recovery and good health". The Indian premier tagged Maryam Nawaz, daughter of the prime minister, in his Twitter post.
A spokesman for the prime minister had stated earlier the premier was likely to remain hospitalised for at least one week, adding that he would return home only after doctors’ permission.
In the prime minister's absence, all affairs of the state would continue as per the law of the land and Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar would be responsible for managing the routine matters of the government.
The premier's heart condition dates back to 2008.
His visit to London was his second this year. He was also in the British capital in April when he also received medical attention at the Royal Brompton Hospital in Chelsea.

It's good to be courteous, phone Modi as much as you want, but also understand and do something about Pakistan's internal and external situation, regionally and internationally. Pakistani leadership is extremely short of a leader who is visionary.

Medical science is very advanced today. Nobody goes away in an operation theatre. Mr Nawaz Sharif will recover. My prayers for his quick recovery post surgery. The guy certainly has not only the endurance but a very good manners as well, saying good bye to his admirers! He has certainly no interest to go to the next world and would rather resist and live longer with his friends and foes alike. This stress for money has genuinely given him a real stress if his brother could share it with him, he would be ready soon for opening ceremonies of new highways and bridges along the Cepec route to the shangri la. The Nations of the country named pakistan will have to have patience for good times to come.

Personally PM Pakistan can do whatever he deserves for and whatever he desires for but being chief executive of Pakistan he should categorically bear in mind he is swinging on a seesaw with that person whom hate and grudge against Pakistan is an open secret. I have already wished Nawaz Sharif Sahab a safe surgery and recovery and again doing so just to indicate that he is a man of peace and wants economic progress for his masses. People who only think of him as someone who is involved in corruption dont understand what impact he might have for millions of Pakistanis if there is peace between India and Pakistan. When he saw that Modi went almost uninvited to his family house in Lahore for the wedding he realized Modi is a man of peace just like many muslims are realizing that when Modi says "Sabka Saath Sabka Vikaas" he means it. I hope peace prevails in the region and millions are lifted out of poverty.

A genuine questions:
(1) Why Pak PM Nawaz Sharif went to London for the open heart surgery ?.
(2) Does Pakistan hospitals not have open heart surgery facilities ?.
(3) Doe he not trust on the Pakistani doctors ?.
(4) Does it not a shame on Pakistan as a nations that their PM goes to other country for the medical treatments?
(5) Does it not a shame for Pak PM himself to not to trust on his own people (e.g. doctors) ?.
I believe, Pakistan hospitals may have state-of-the art facilities for the open heart surgery with trained doctors. I my opinion, he should have get the surgery in Pakistan itself. BY doing so, he would have earned an enormous respects from the country people.

The phone call was to tell Mr Modi that he may cut the tail of Gen Sharif if he wagged it too much while Mr Sharif is under treatment. International community has already been requested to punish any military take over in Pakistan now onwards. And this is known only to the heads of states. All countries will impose sanctions on Pakistan if military takes over at any time in the future.

Oh how I wish the civilian government were allowed to function in Pakistan. What a progressive country it would have become by now.
The percentage of well educated, open-minded, and liberal folks is higher in the civilian government of Pakistan.

I THINK, In this third term Nawaz is interested in glory (create history).
He want's to do something really good for Pakistan. If military elite permit it, he might be successful in accomplishing something great.
Acknowledging all the mistakes he has made in last two terms, people need to see him as he is now and accept that he has all good intentions for upliftment of common Pakistanis.....if only Pakistanis support him the way Indians support Modi...
