ISLAMABAD, Nov 21: A passer-by and a proclaimed offender (PO) were shot and injured during an encounter between police and POs on Thursday night at Bharakahu, police said on Friday.

The Bharakahu police received a tip-off that some proclaimed offenders were hiding in a house. On this, a police party carried out a raid, during which it exchanged fire with the POs. As a result, a passer-by, identified as Aftab Hussain, and a proclaimed offender, Aqeel, were injured. They were taken to the Polyclinic, where, according to a doctor, their condition was critical.

Two other proclaimed offenders, identified as Zaheer and Tahir, managed to escaped from the scene.

According to the police, the three POs were wanted in two firing incidents on police at Chara and Kahuta. In addition to this, they were also involved in many robbery cases.
