LAHORE: In order to end nepotism and undue interference, Inspector General of Punjab Police Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera has declared that deputy superintendents of police (DSPs) will be reshuffled by the city police officers (CPOs) on the recommendations of the regional police officers (RPOs).

For their postings, the DSPs have been categorized in A and B categories in the light of their repute/performance.

Addressing an RPOs conference through video link on Friday, the IGP asked senior police officers to strictly observe the categorization of the DSPs to ensure posting of honest and professional officers.The IGP said implementation of the strategy evolved to eliminate nepotism from the police department was yielding positive results. He said no interference would be accepted in postings and transfers and writing ACRs of the officers.

Mushtaq Sukhera said that from now on no district police officer (DPO) would be authorized to change the category of any DSP. “The category can only be changed on the recommendation of the RPO with the approval of the CPO”, the IGP declared.

He said only those officers would fall in the A category who enjoyed good repute and didn’t have more than 10 years posting tenure in one district. He further said that no DSP rank officer would be posted in his home district under this policy.

He further added that the reporting officers should write the ACRs of their subordinates honestly under the given policy so that the honest could be promoted.

Reviewing the issue related to those constables who submitted bogus credentials at the time of their induction in police, the PPO directed the officers to arrest them after the cancellation of their bails.

The RPOs conference also reviewed the opening of front desks in 202 police stations in 13 districts in Punjab. Sukhera further directed the officers to computerize the record of all transfers and postings to get rid of the monopoly and malpractices of clerks.

Welfare and Finance Additional IGP Sohail Khan, Operations/Investigation Additional IGP Capt (retired) Arif Nawaz, Establishment Additional IGP Dr Arif Mushtaq and other senior police officers attended the meeting besides all RPOs.
