THE lack of education and health facilities have a detrimental effect on the health and well-being of young people. Unfortunately, they are both neglected sectors in Pakistan. The young do not have awareness because of the lack of education and they do not get basic information about their health and education.
The learning material for graduates that is available on the market is ignorant of modern challenges such as banking, higher education, energy, or social and political affairs. Graduates are hardly concerned with the great changes taking place in the world. This indifference is because their education has been very poor.
This is alarming, and detrimental to the development of the country. The young are the custodians of the future. The issue needs to be addressed as early as possible. The four skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking must be improved in educational institutions. Inculcating the reading habit and fostering writing competency require special attention. Teachers, students, parents and society together can help stop the standard of education from falling.
