ISLAMABAD: Punjab Blues and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Whites registered big victories on the fourth day of the National Under-18 Hockey Championship here at the Naseer Bunda Hockey Stadium on Tuesday.

Punjab Blues routed Islamabad 7-0 while KP Whites handed Sindh Colour a 5-1 hammering.

KP Whites’ captain Hamza Khan was the architect of their victory in the first match of the day with a superb hat-trick while Omar Farooq and Ahtesham Khan scored a goal each.

The lone goal for Sindh Colour was scored by Hamza Rizwan.

The second match of the day saw Punjab Blues completely overwhelm the capital side.

Punjab Blues players dominated from start to finish as Islamabad struggled to break their rhythm with striker Wasim Akram bagging a hat-trick.

Wasim’s performance and Punjab Blues’ aggressive intent saw Islamabad fail in launching any notable attack.

The other goals for the victors came from Adil, Abid Bhatti, Arshad and Liaqat.

As many as 13 teams from across the country are taking part in the championship which concludes on June 1.

The championship is being played on a league basis, with the teams being divided into four groups.

Four teams from Punjab are participating and at the end of the third day, the Punjab sides lead their respective groups.
