ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will miss the ninth Asian Senior Women Netball Championship as the sponsors have backed out, president of the Pakistan Netball Federation (PNF) Mudassir Arain said on Wednesday.

“We won’t be able to chip in the mega event as the two banks with whom we were in talks for the sponsorship have expressed their inability to support us,” Mudassir told APP.

The championship is scheduled to be staged in Thailand from July 29 to Aug 6.

Though Pakistan’s women failed to impress finishing ninth in the last edition of the championship held in Malaysia two years ago, Arain said he was hoping for better results from the team this time.

“Our women had prepared really hard for this year’s Asian championship and were looking eager to outsmart rivals. It is unfortunate they are not leaving for the event,” he regretted.
