LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly on Monday unanimously passed a resolution condemning the US drone attack in Balochistan, terming it an attack on Pakistan’s sovereignty.

Stating that the latest attack had killed Afghan Taliban leader Mullah Akhtar Mansour, the resolution said the May 22 US drone attack had challenged Pakistan’s sovereignty and solidarity and, therefore, was highly condemnable. The resolution demanded that the federal government should summon the US ambassador and lodge protest.

The resolution was moved by opposition leader Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed as, in a rare move, Law Minister Rana Sanaullah gave a go ahead to Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal to suspend rules of business and take opposition leader’s resolution out of turn.
