PCB considers inviting Afghanistan to revive cricket in Quetta

QUETTA: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shaharyar Khan is considering to invite Afghanistan to play in Quetta, capital of Balochistan, in the wake of improved law and order situation in the provincial capital.

He was accompanied by Secretary General Quetta Region, Noman Mashkoor and PCB Coordinator, Abdul Qayyum, during a press conference at Bugti Cricket Stadium Quetta.

Shaharyar stated that Afghanistan has shown consent to send their cricket team to Pakistan.

“We are considering to arrange matches here, in order to provide locals an opportunity to watch international cricket”.

Khan revealed PCB plans to establish cricket academies in Quetta and Peshawar to search for prospective talent in the cities.

He also urged Baloch youth to focus on education.

“A cricketer must be educated as it is the need of the hour,” he remarked.

The chairman further added that governor Balochistan, Mohammad Achakzai and chief minister Balochistan, Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri, had been requested to construct new cricket stadiums in Quetta and other cities of the province.

And the irony would be when Afghanistan would defeat Pakistan on her home ground :) what a sorry state of affairs of PCB and so does the Pakistan

PK and PCB deserves some credit. Despite frosty relations PK and AGH are able to set politics aside and play the game for the love of the game. Even though AGH politicians are always blaming and maligning PK, PK goes out of its way to train, counsel and aid AFG. Sports can resolve disputes not deteriorate them. A concept that India has yet to grasp. Politicizing sports is not the mature way to go.
