Jr Age Group Squash begins

PESHAWAR: The National Junior Age Group Squash Championship started here at the PAF Hashim Khan Squash Complex on Monday.

In the U-17 matches played on the opening day, Punjab’s Aun Abbas outplayed Hamid Habib of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 11-9, 11-6, 11-8 while Zeeshan Malik blanked Shehzad Khan of Punjab 11-8, 11-7, 11-9.

More than 120 budding squash players from across the country of different age categories — U-11, U-13, U-15 and U-17 — are taking part in the championship.

Meawnhile, in his brief address, squash icon and former world champion Qamar Zaman said that the Khyber Pakhtu­nkhwa Squash Association was regularly holding various tournaments which were part of 22 calendar year events, including six for females.
